When I was in Australia, I discovered the fun of Reformer Pilates. We did a class overlooking Bondi Beach. It was such a stunning location and brilliant to get some invigorating exercise in – and all before breakfast!
I always try and kick off my days with exercise and I enjoyed the Reformer Pilates so much that the wonderful team at Virgin Active sent me a machine so I could continue with my training at home.
I’ve been working really hard this year to keep in shape. I find that when I’ve looked after my body, my mind is much more motivated and energised, which has been more important now than ever.
Whether it’s playing a game of tennis, running or cycling, it’s always good to mix it up. Reformer Pilates has been a really great activity to add to the mix as it’s helped me stretch out all my muscles and build more core strength. It’s a great workout for all the body and a perfect mix of intensity and relaxation. I also enjoy getting out of my comfort zone – and there’s no better way to do that than by trying a new exercise activity.
I’m fortunate that I have a brilliant trainer Katie who has been keeping me on track, guiding me through some of the Virgin Active classes remotely. It’s amazing to see the variety they have and the great personalities that lead their classes. It definitely helps keep it interesting!
I also try and set myself some big goals to achieve, which gives me something to focus on. Every year I take on the Strive Challenge. Usually we hike, bike and cycle more than 2,000km across Europe – but this year we took the challenge on virtually from all different corners of the world. It was great to see everyone cheering each other on, even if it was on social media!
