The Covid-19 pandemic that has rocked the world certainly has had its lows.
But we can think of one thing in particular that has changed dramatically (and some might even say positively) since the pandemic started, and that’s the evolution of your workout. With the pandemic forcing gyms to shut down globally, it forced people to look at their workout routine; particularly what was working and what wasn’t.
Your workout routine changed
A lot of you have recognised things about your workout routine that you might not have noticed before. You may have found you prefer a workout in the morning rather than your usual after-work gym evening routine. You may have discovered how important the gym really is in your life! You may have found that a Yoga Calm class before bedtime has become truly beneficial in your life. You also might have discovered that Boxing or Pilates really is your thing, or that 20-minute workouts are your sweet spot.
You were made to move
What we do know is that people are made to move. In Australia, there were very few excuses you could leave your house during quarantine, and one of them was for exercise. That’s because we suspect the Government recognised that we as humans need to move. It’s a necessity for our health and wellbeing.
And you probably proved that to yourself during the pandemic. Yes, even between the indulgent snacking or cocktails before noon, we bet you had the desire to move. Even if it was a simple walk or an impromptu dance party in your living room, you instinctually had the urge to stay active through all of it; for your mental and physical wellbeing.
What works for YOU
All of this adds up to this: we know that no two people are equal when it comes to what works for them, but we do know we are all the same in that we need to find ways to be active. We just have to find what works for us, individually.
And this is why we at Virgin Active are evolving to meet your needs. Our health clubs are available to you for your workouts with safety measures in place (please see here for the latest updates on club openings and safety measures). But we’re also keeping our virtual doors open. This means our online workouts and online coaching are available to those who want to work out outside of the club.
4 ways to evolve your workout
In club: Imagine a 45-minute Reformer Pilates class in the morning at your local club, then a 25-minute online Boxing workout before dinner. Or how about a swim to wake you up and a cool down Yoga Calm before bed? You can mix and match your workouts how you see fit. We’re available to you virtually and in-person.
Online coaching: We’ve got some of the best Personal Trainers in the business, and they’re now available to you in the place that works for you: in the club, virtually or outdoors. Imagine heading to the gym for your 45-minute Personal Training with your Coach, and the next day enjoying a nice 25-minute Virgin Active Barre class online. Perfect combination. Please reach out to your local club to learn more about your options for Personal Training.
Small group training: Many of our coaches are setting up Small Group Training sessions to keep you moving. We can see you scheduling in a 45-minute Small Group Training session weekly with your favourite coach, and then do the rest of your workouts in the open gym. Win, win. Message us to learn more about your Small Group Training options.
Live and on-demand workouts: If you’re enjoying the virtual world a lot, or a Virgin Active club isn’t convenient for you, then that’s what we’ll offer to you. Every day you get to change it up. Whether you love a good 45-minute Grid Training HIIT-style class or a 30-minute Yoga Flow class or both, these live and on-demand workouts are an amazing way to stay active from anywhere in the world. Virtual gains.
If there’s anything you’ve learned during the pandemic is that you are unique in what works for you to stay active. We love that about you, and we can’t wait to meet you exactly where you’re at. Let’s evolve your Active today so that you can live happily ever active.
