Got a few scars you’d love to fade? Tea tree oil is an excellent antibacterial that is said to reduce the appearance of scars and dry up pesky pimples. Give it a go by dipping a cotton swap into the stuff and lightly dabbing it onto your skin. Make sure you do not double dip. This is ‘essential’ because it prevents contamination and maintains the purity of your essential oils for longer. If you suspect you’ll need a little more, pop a bit onto the back of your hand and dunk into that as much as you like.
Locks need some love? Treat your scalp to some avocado oil or castor oil for some serious replenishment. All you need to do is pop the oil onto your roots, and leave it in like you would a normal hair mask. Of course, the longer the better (we reckon at least 4 hours), so if you can, chuck your hair into a bun, wrap it up, hit the hay and wash it all out in the morning.
Whether you’re about to go to bed, or you’re looking for a bit of calm during the day, essential oils like lavender, rose and chamomile are fantastic. You can use them in few different ways to get you feeling tranquil. Try dabbing a small amount onto your temples and wrists, adding a few drops onto your pillow or even popping some into your washing machine to infuse with your clothes.
Did you know that you can use essential oils to help around the home? For a natural carpet cleaner, combine baking soda and vinegar with a few drops of your favourite scent. To repel ants, soak some cotton balls in peppermint or arborvitae oil and place them around your home. And, to get rid of mozzies, add some citronella, eucalyptus or basil oil to your oil burner.
