Pilates can be practiced by all levels and abilities. Expecting mums must let the instructor know before the class starts. We usually recommend expecting mums to practise Pilates reformer over mat Pilates

Joseph Pilates presents his method as the art of controlled movements, which should look and feel like a workout (not a therapy) when properly manifested. If practiced with consistency, Pilates improves flexibility, builds strength, and develops control and endurance in the whole human body. It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, and developing a strong powerhouse, and improving coordination and balance.

Why is it good for me?

Famous for developing strength, flexibility and coordination, not to mention flat abs. Pilates is appreciated by everyone from elite athletes to seniors. Toning, flexibility, better posture, efficient movement, body/mind connection. Just about every benefit the Pilates method has to offer is available through mat work.

What will I do?

Pilates moves require you to engage virtually your whole body, with a heavy emphasis on your core. At times, you may try to strengthen one muscle while stretching another. Pilates teaches you to think about how you use your muscles during your workout so you use them better in daily life. Because much of the focus is on good posture and body mechanics, you stand and sit taller and walk more gracefully

What should I bring?

Just yourself, comfy workout gear and a bottle of water. We provide the Mat! Mat Pilates is a barefoot class, however, please travel to and from our changing rooms with shoes to protect your precious toes!
